Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav has strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the issue of bus marshals, accusing them of negligence that has jeopardized the marshals’ future. This has brought the AAP government under fire from opposition parties. The dismissal of DTC bus marshals during Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure as Chief Minister has become a hot topic of political debate.
Devender Yadav’s Claims
Yadav alleged that both the AAP and BJP are using the issue of bus marshals for their political advantage in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. He pointed out that, despite directions from the Lieutenant Governor (LG) to reinstate 10,000 dismissed bus marshals by November 1, the AAP government has not followed through.
LG vs. AAP Government
The Congress leader stated that the current Chief Minister, Atishi, shifted the responsibility for reinstating the marshals back to the LG during a Delhi Assembly session. This comes after the LG had earlier clarified that the decision to rehire the marshals lies solely with the Delhi government and not his office.
Accusation of Political Exploitation
Yadav accused Atishi and the AAP of playing with the lives of the marshals. He criticized the government for delaying their reinstatement and accused them of planning to use this issue to gain votes in the 2025 Delhi elections.
Congress Demands Action
Devender Yadav called out the AAP government for forcing marshals to go on hunger strikes due to their inaction. He stated that the marshals had no choice but to protest because of the government’s broken promises. Yadav demanded the immediate reinstatement of the marshals, urging the AAP government to prioritize their welfare over political strategies.
The Congress leader concluded by emphasizing that the livelihoods of thousands of marshals are at stake, and the government must act without delay.
