In areas like Pashwa Doon in Dehradun, land mafia has started illegally occupying government land. Local sources say that agreements are being made for government land, and these lands are being sold to outsiders. These people are getting their Aadhaar and ration cards made overnight, establishing their identity as local residents.
Illegal Occupation of Government Land
In areas like Vikasnagar, Sahaspur, and Herbertpur, the situation is critical. A large amount of government land has been illegally occupied. Roads are being constructed overnight using JCB machines to benefit outside builders and mafia. Locals have raised their concerns multiple times, but the administration’s lack of action has made the problem worse.
Demographic Changes and Political Motives
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced strict action against cases of “land jihad.” He stated that illegal occupation of government land will not be tolerated. In the past, after actions were taken against illegal shrines, 1000 acres of government land were freed from illegal occupation. Dhami made it clear that those involved in such activities will not be spared.
