Anna Sebastian Perayil, a 26-year-old employee at Ernst & Young India (EY India), recently passed away. After her death, her mother, Anita Augustine, wrote an emotional email to EY India’s Chairman, Rajiv Memani. In the email, she blamed the company’s work culture for her daughter’s death and expressed disappointment that no one from the company attended Anna’s funeral.
Now, Rajiv Memani has responded, saying that the company deeply regrets Anna’s death and also regrets not attending her funeral.
Rajiv Memani Says Such Mistakes Won’t Happen Again
Rajiv Memani, Chairman and Managing Director of the multinational consulting firm, shared a post on LinkedIn expressing his sadness as a father and apologized for no one attending Anna’s funeral. He mentioned that such incidents were not a part of their work culture, but assured that it won’t happen again. After Anita Augustine’s email became public, there was widespread criticism of the company’s work culture. The Central Minister of Labor, Shobha Karandlaje, has also announced an investigation into the matter.
