He emphasized that under India’s leadership in the G20, an agenda based on the expectations and aspirations of the Global South was created. He stated that the strength of the Global South lies in its unity and that this unity will guide them toward new directions. The summit serves as a platform to voice the needs and aspirations of those who have been previously unheard.
What is Global South?
The Global South is a group of over 100 countries. The world is often divided into two parts based on economic and social factors: the Global North and the Global South. The Global North includes mostly developed and industrialized countries like the USA, UK, and Japan. The Global South consists of less developed countries, mainly in Asia and Africa.
