In the Kolkata rape-murder case, an audio clip has emerged revealing that the parents of a 31-year-old junior doctor were informed, “It seems she committed suicide, please hurry.” On August 9, the Assistant Superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital called the parents three times to inform them about their daughter’s condition.
The calls from the hospital staff show that there was confusion and panic about the junior doctor’s condition. In the first call, the Assistant Superintendent asked the parents to come to the hospital urgently, saying, “Your daughter is not well. Can you come to the hospital immediately?”
Father Suspects Something Is Wrong
The father sensed that something was wrong, so he asked for more information. The staff member only replied, “She is not well. We are admitting her. Can you come quickly?” When pressed further, the staff member hesitated and said, “The doctors will explain what happened when you arrive. We called you because we found your number and you are family.”
Shortly after, the father received a second call, in which the hospital staff member sounded even more worried. He urged, “Her condition is very serious. Please come as soon as possible.” This made the father even more anxious. He tried to find out what had happened, but the answer remained unclear: “The doctors will tell you. Please hurry.”
When the father asked who was speaking, the staff member said, “I am the Assistant Superintendent,” and added, “I am not a doctor.” The father, desperate for answers, asked if any doctor was present, but the call suddenly disconnected without further explanation.
First Call:
Assistant Superintendent: “She is not well. Can you come immediately?”
Father: “What happened?”
Assistant Superintendent: “She is not well. We are admitting her. Can you come quickly?”
Father: “Tell me what happened.”
Assistant Superintendent: “The doctors will explain when you arrive. We called you because we found your number, and you are family. Please come quickly.”
Mother: “Does she have a fever?”
Assistant Superintendent: “Please come, as soon as possible.”
Father: “Is her condition that bad?”
Assistant Superintendent: “Very bad. Please come quickly.”
Second Call:
Assistant Superintendent: “Her condition is very bad, please come as soon as possible.”
Father: “Tell me what happened?”
Assistant Superintendent: “The doctors will tell you. Please hurry.”
Father: “Who is speaking?”
Assistant Superintendent: “I am the Assistant Superintendent. I am not a doctor.”
Father: “Is there no doctor there?”
Assistant Superintendent: “We have brought your daughter to the emergency room. Please come and contact us here.”
Mother: “What happened to her? She was on duty!”
Assistant Superintendent: “Please come as soon as possible.”
Third Call:
Assistant Superintendent: “It seems she committed suicide. She is dead. The police are here. We are calling from the hospital.”
These calls have raised serious questions about the circumstances surrounding the junior doctor’s death and how the hospital handled the situation. The shocked family is now demanding answers from the hospital authorities about what happened to their daughter before her death.
