The recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata has shocked the nation. Sanjay Roy, the main suspect, has a troubling background that has been revealed by his neighbors and friends.

Friends’ Accusations Against Sanjay Roy

According to his neighbors, Sanjay Roy had a very troubling behavior. They reported that after drinking alcohol, he would act aggressively and think of himself as a tiger who could do anything. He would harass girls and show no fear, claiming that he was above the law. He drank heavily throughout the day, and his neighbors avoided him because of his bad behavior.

One of his neighbors revealed that Roy had been married four times. Three of his wives left him due to his behavior, and one wife died. He would drink alcohol and use abusive language. His neighbors often complained about him, saying that he was a very unpleasant person with a bad character.

Ongoing Investigation

Sanjay Roy joined the Kolkata Police as a citizen volunteer in 2019. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently conducting a polygraph test on him and is waiting for DNA and psychological analysis reports to further guide the investigation. The CBI has informed the Supreme Court that the local police initially tried to cover up the rape and murder case and tampered with the crime scene before the CBI took over the investigation.

Discovery of the Body

The trainee doctor’s body was found on the morning of August 9 in the seminar hall of the hospital, and Sanjay Roy was arrested the following day. The Calcutta High Court ordered the investigation to be handed over to the CBI on August 13, and the CBI began its investigation on August 14.
