The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir will contest from two constituencies. Earlier, on Wednesday, September 4, he had filed his nomination from Ganderbal, which is considered his family’s stronghold. His son was also with him at the time. Omar Abdullah removed his cap and asked people for their votes, saying, “My honor is in your hands.”

According to a report by PTI, Omar Abdullah asked for votes in the Kashmiri language. He said that in the coming days, they will discuss politics and the conspiracies from Delhi. The NC vice president had contested the 2014 Assembly elections from the Beerwah seat in Budgam district. He has also contested from the Sonwar seat in Srinagar.

The Ganderbal constituency is known to be a stronghold of the National Conference, with both Sheikh Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah having contested from there in the past.

The first phase of elections for the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will be held on September 18, the second phase on September 25, and the third and final phase on October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
