In the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh being played in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, led by Shan Masood, faced a loss in the first Test. This has led to criticism of Pakistan’s batsmen, including Babar Azam. Babar Azam’s poor form continued into the second Test. He scored 31 runs from 77 balls in the first innings and 11 runs from 18 balls in the second innings. As a result, he has dropped to 9th place in the ICC rankings.

Former Pakistani captain Rashid Latif has commented on Babar Azam’s mindset. Latif said that Babar’s mind is not calm and compared him to Virender Sehwag, suggesting that once Sehwag’s form was off, it was difficult for him to get back on track. Latif believes that Babar’s focus is not on the game and that he is distracted. He criticized Babar’s shot selection and said that the influence of T20 and ODI formats has led him to play more aggressive shots. Latif also mentioned that Babar is struggling to understand the Test format and his mental approach is not right.

Latif also criticized Babar Azam’s technique and practice methods. He pointed out that practicing with the wrong techniques can lead to issues, as shown in the example of the late arm in practice. He contrasted Babar’s technique with Sachin Tendulkar’s, saying Tendulkar had excellent technique and could quickly recover from poor form. On the other hand, Virender Sehwag’s poor form lasted longer, and Latif sees a similar pattern with Babar Azam.
