A major road accident happened on Thursday morning (3 July 2025) on the Khammam-Warangal National Highway in Telangana, near Ellampeta stage in Khammam district. In this accident, three people were burned alive and one person was seriously injured.
The crash happened around 4:30 AM when two trucks collided head-on, causing a massive fire.
🔥 What Happened?
According to police:
- One truck (TS 07 UA 1234) was carrying cement.
- The other (AP 09 TA 5678) was an empty container truck coming from Warangal to Khammam.
Both drivers and one cleaner were trapped inside the vehicles and could not be rescued.
The fire spread quickly, and despite efforts, the trapped people could not be saved.
🧯 Rescue Efforts and Traffic Disruption
Police and fire teams reached the spot and took two hours to control the fire.
Circle Inspector Ramesh Kumar said that a fourth person, a helper in one truck, jumped out during the crash but was seriously burned. He was rushed to Khammam Government Hospital, and his condition is critical.
Traffic on the highway was blocked for several hours and later diverted through an alternate route.
💸 Compensation and Government Action
The dead bodies were badly burned, and identification is still ongoing. Police are trying to contact the families of the victims.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed deep sorrow and announced ₹10 lakh compensation for each of the victim’s families.
The Telangana government has also ordered a high-level investigation into the accident.

Local people said that the road near Ellampeta is too narrow, and accidents happen often. This incident again raises serious questions about road safety and driver negligence on national highways.
