Harare: India’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a remarkable innings in the opening T20I against Zimbabwe, announcing himself on the international stage with a blistering half-century. The 15-year-old reached the milestone in just 18 balls, setting multiple age-related records and eclipsing one that had belonged to cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for nearly four decades.
The left-handed opener had a quiet start to his international career, managing scores of 14, 13 and 15 during the recent T20I series against England. However, he wasted little time finding his rhythm against Zimbabwe, attacking from the outset and dominating the bowling attack.
Explosive Knock Turns the Match
Sooryavanshi played with complete freedom, hammering four fours and four sixes during his whirlwind innings. He completed his maiden T20I fifty in only 18 deliveries before being dismissed on the following ball.

At 15 years and 118 days, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player from an ICC full-member nation to score an international fifty. Before Sooryavanshi’s fireworks, India’s bowling attack restricted Zimbabwe to 125/7 after captain Shreyas Iyer elected to field.
Speedster Mayank Yadav marked his return to international cricket with an impressive performance. Playing his first match after recovering from injury, he dismissed opener Brian Bennett with the very first delivery of the game and later claimed another wicket while consistently bowling above 145 kmph.
Spinner Ravi Bishnoi maintained pressure with an economical spell, while debutant Ashok Sharma recovered well after an expensive first over to contribute with disciplined bowling.
For Zimbabwe, Wessly Madhevere top-scored with 38, Ryan Burl added 26, and Tadiwanashe Marumani remained unbeaten on 27, helping the hosts post a respectable total.
