Toxic Box Office: Yash Film Scores Rs 101 Crore on Day 1, Just Behind Dhurandhar 2

Yash has once again delivered a huge box-office opening. His latest film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India on its first day, setting the stage for a strong theatrical run.

As per early trade estimates, the Geetu Mohandas-directed action drama collected around Rs 101 crore nett in India on Day 1. Its worldwide gross reportedly reached nearly Rs 140 crore.

Hindi Market Gives Toxic a Major Boost

Interestingly, the Hindi version emerged as the biggest contributor to the film’s domestic opening.

The Hindi release is estimated to have earned around Rs 55 crore nett, while the Kannada version brought in approximately Rs 25 crore. The Telugu-dubbed version contributed nearly Rs 11 crore.

The performance highlights Yash’s growing popularity beyond the Kannada-speaking market and the strong anticipation surrounding Toxic.

Dhurandhar 2 Still Holds the Top Spot

While the opening is impressive, Toxic narrowly missed the biggest Indian opening of 2026.

With around Rs 101 crore nett, the film sits behind Dhurandhar 2, which reportedly collected approximately Rs 103 crore nett in India on its first day.

The worldwide comparison is even more significant. Dhurandhar 2 reportedly opened with around Rs 205 crore gross globally, while Toxic registered close to Rs 140 crore.

Toxic Enters Top Tier of Kannada Cinema

Toxic has still managed to achieve a major milestone for Kannada cinema.

Its estimated Rs 140 crore worldwide opening places it at No. 2 among the biggest worldwide Day 1 openings for a Kannada film. The record remains with Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, which earned roughly Rs 164 crore worldwide on its opening day.

The result further strengthens Yash’s position as one of the biggest pan-India stars.

Beats Jawan, Animal and Pathaan’s Day 1 Figures

Toxic has also surpassed the opening-day worldwide numbers of several popular Bollywood films.

For comparison, Pathaan earned around Rs 104 crore worldwide on Day 1, while Animal opened at approximately Rs 116 crore. Adipurush recorded around Rs 127 crore, and Jawan collected nearly Rs 129 crore globally on its first day.

With its Rs 140 crore opening, Toxic has managed to move ahead of all four films in this comparison.

Strong Start, But the Real Test Begins Now

The film’s overseas numbers were comparatively modest, with international earnings reportedly crossing US$2 million on the opening day. Its domestic performance, particularly in the Hindi market, has therefore been central to the massive first-day total.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.

After such a strong debut, the focus will now shift to the film’s weekend performance and whether it can maintain its momentum in the days ahead.
