Nothing Phone (4a) and Pro Revealed: Mid-Range Power, Vibrant Colors, and Pro-Level Zoom

Nothing Technology has shaken up the mid-range smartphone market once again with the official launch of the Nothing Phone (4a) and the more premium Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. The duo was revealed during a high-energy event in London on March 5, 2026, following months of teasers and a bold decision from the company to skip a full flagship Phone (4) release this year in favor of supercharging its popular (a)-series lineup.

CEO Carl Pei emphasized in the pre-launch video that the (4a) series represents “a complete evolution” over previous models, bringing flagship-like refinements to more accessible prices amid rising costs for AI features across the industry. Both phones run the freshly updated Nothing OS 4.1 on Android 16, promising a bloat-free, highly customizable interface with extended software support.

The Nothing Phone (4a) keeps the brand’s iconic transparent aesthetic intact while debuting the innovative Glyph Bar — a sleek, horizontal LED strip that replaces the scattered Glyph Lights of older models for more intuitive notifications, timers, and music visualizers. It sports a vibrant 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, a fluid 120Hz refresh rate, and an eye-popping peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Under the hood sits the efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, configurable with 8GB or 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. Battery life is strong with a 5,400mAh cell supporting 50W fast charging. The camera array includes a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 32MP selfie shooter.

Color lovers will appreciate the four playful options: Black, White, Blue, and a standout Pink. Pricing starts at £349 (around ₹31,999 in India for the 8GB/128GB model), with higher trims at £399–£429 depending on region. Pre-orders kicked off immediately, with general availability from March 13, 2026. In India, expect variants up to 12GB/256GB around ₹37,999–₹39,999 via Flipkart and other channels. Note: The standard (4a) skips the US market this time.

Stepping up is the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, which ditches the full see-through back for a premium slim metal unibody design — touted as Nothing’s thinnest metal phone ever at just 7.95mm. It comes in refined metallic tones: Black, Silver, and Pink. The display upgrades to 6.83 inches with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate and an ultra-bright 5,000 nits peak for HDR content. It gains better IP65 dust/water resistance, improved thermal management, and a new Glyph Matrix integrated into the camera island for more dynamic LED patterns.

Camera enthusiasts get a boost with the same 50MP main and 8MP ultrawide, but a superior 50MP periscope telephoto lens enabling up to 140x digital zoom (with solid optical performance). The Pro uses a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset for slightly better efficiency and AI capabilities, plus a 5,080–5,400mAh battery (reports vary slightly) with 50W charging. It starts at $499 / £499 / €479 (roughly ₹39,999–₹42,000 in India for base 8GB/128GB), positioning it directly against devices like the Google Pixel 10a. Pre-orders open March 13, with sales from March 27, 2026. Importantly, this is the first (a)-series phone to officially launch in the United States.

Alongside the phones, Nothing introduced the Headphone (a) over-ear headphones in bold colors, priced at $199, boasting exceptional battery life and tying into the ecosystem.
