In Uttar Pradesh, 23 bus stations are undergoing modernization and reconstruction. This work is being done under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model over the next two years. After the modernization of Charbagh station in Lucknow, similar work will start at many other bus stations across the state. This may cause inconvenience to passengers.

In Lucknow alone, the main bus station at Charbagh is expected to affect around 350 buses and 5,000 passengers. During the construction period, temporary bus stations will be set up at nearby locations from where buses will operate. After Charbagh, the modernization of bus stations in Raebareli will also begin soon.

23 Bus Stations Will Be Modernized

Earlier, UP’s Transport Minister, Dayashankar Singh, announced that 23 bus stations in the state will be modernized in collaboration with private companies under the PPP model. He mentioned that two bus stations and two workshops in the Lucknow division will also be modernized. These include the Charbagh and Raebareli bus stations, as well as the Gomti Nagar and Amausi workshops.

RK Tripathi, the regional manager of UPSRTC Lucknow, stated that over 300 buses operate from the Raebareli bus station, carrying 3,000 to 4,000 passengers daily. In the coming time, passengers will have to catch buses from alternative locations, and they may face difficulties for the next one and a half to two years.

Yajuvendra Kumar, UPSRTC’s General Manager (PPP Projects), provided further details, saying that eleven such projects will start in the next few weeks. These projects include stations in the Lucknow division, Ghaziabad, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, and Agra. While passengers will need to adjust to the new bus stations during the modernization process, they will benefit from new facilities once the reconstruction is complete.
