Australian star spinner Nathan Lyon has made a big statement about the World Test Championship (WTC). Lyon believes that the WTC final should be played as a three-match Test series instead of just one match.
Nathan Lyon, who has taken 530 wickets in Test cricket, said, “One thing I would like to see is that the WTC final should be a three-match Test series rather than just one Test match. It would be a bit fairer because you can lose a Test match in one session, but a three-match series gives you a chance to make a comeback and show your impact.”

Lyon further suggested that this series could be played in three different countries. He said, “You could play one Test in England, one in Australia, and one in India. This way, you would have different conditions.” Looking at the current points table, it seems likely that India and Australia will again face each other in the WTC final.
Next Year’s WTC Final Date Announced
The date for the World Test Championship 2025 final has been announced. The final will be held at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in England from June 11-15. If needed, June 16 has been kept as a reserve day. This will be the third WTC final in history, and it will be the first time that Lord’s will host this prestigious match.
Australia Won the Last Final, India Lost Twice
It’s worth noting that Australia won the previous World Test Championship. The Kangaroos defeated Team India in the final. In the first edition of the WTC, New Zealand won the title by beating India in the final. The Indian team has reached the WTC final twice but has not been able to win the title either time.
