SEMICON India 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the SEMICON India 2024 conference today at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted that now is the best time to invest in India. Modi expressed India’s ambition to become a global player in the semiconductor industry and emphasized that he is dedicated to making this dream a reality. He believes the future of the semiconductor industry will be significant for India.
Preparing a Semiconductor Workforce
At SEMICON India, PM Modi stated, “India is the 8th country in the world to host this grand global semiconductor event, and I can say that this is the right time to be in India. You are at the right place at the right time. Today, India assures the world of its capabilities.” He highlighted India’s talent in design, noting that 20% of global design talent comes from India. The country is expanding its semiconductor workforce, aiming to train 85,000 technicians, engineers, and R&D experts. India is focusing on preparing students and professionals for the semiconductor industry.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Remarks
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the event. He mentioned, “Under PM Modi’s guidance and visionary leadership, Uttar Pradesh has focused on IT, semiconductors, data centers, and electronic manufacturing. Our efforts in these areas over the past few years have led to significant results, with the state now producing 55% of the country’s mobile manufacturing components and 50% of mobile components.”

Modi’s vision is to democratize access to technology. All initiatives, including Digital India and Telecom Missions, have made technology accessible to ordinary citizens. The growth of the semiconductor industry in our country will further deepen this vision.”
