The Bihar Assembly Election 2025 is approaching, and the political atmosphere in the state is heating up. To strengthen its position, the Congress party recently changed its Bihar in-charge and appointed Rajesh Kumar as the new state president, replacing Akhilesh Prasad Singh. However, a recent statement on the Chief Ministerial candidate has stirred controversy.
Congress Remains Silent on CM Face
During a press interaction, Rajesh Kumar, the Bihar Congress President, was asked how many seats the party would contest in the upcoming election. He did not give a clear answer and said, “We are rapidly expanding and strengthening our organization. We are working towards a stronger INDIA alliance.”
When asked about the opposition’s CM candidate, Rajesh Kumar avoided taking Tejashwi Yadav’s name and instead criticized the NDA (National Democratic Alliance). He said, “Ask them about their face.” When journalists pointed out that Nitish Kumar is the NDA’s face, Rajesh Kumar remained silent and left without a response.
Controversy Over Waqf Bill
On April 2, 2025, the Waqf Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha. Rajesh Kumar criticized the bill, calling it an act of autocracy. He said, “This bill has been brought with a malicious intent. The surprising part is that the Bihar government, led by Nitish Kumar, who claims to be secular, has betrayed Muslims by supporting communal forces along with the HAM party and Chirag Paswan’s party.”
Krishna Allavaru, the Congress in-charge for Bihar, also commented on the Waqf Bill, saying, “The Congress party’s stance is very clear. There is no different stand in Bihar. Right now, we are focusing on the elections and the issues concerning the people of Bihar.”
Political Uncertainty Over CM Candidate
The INDIA alliance in Bihar is yet to announce a chief ministerial candidate. The Congress seems hesitant to name Tejashwi Yadav, raising questions about the party’s strategy. This uncertainty has sparked debates and could impact the alliance’s election campaign.
The situation remains tense as the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 draws closer, and all eyes are on how the Congress and its allies handle the CM face issue.
