In the 2024 Rajya Sabha by-elections, the BJP has nominated Central Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu as its candidate from Rajasthan. The party released a list of 9 candidates from 8 states for the Rajya Sabha by-elections. According to this list, Ravneet Singh Bittu will represent Rajasthan.
On social media platform X, Ravneet Singh Bittu expressed his gratitude, writing, “I am very thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and the respected leadership of BJP for trusting me and nominating me for the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.”
He added, “I pledge to work tirelessly to make my great nation and party proud. With your support, I will strive to uphold the values and principles of our Constitution and contribute to the progress and prosperity of our country.”
The BJP’s decision was confirmed in a meeting on August 20. Ravneet Singh Bittu is expected to file his nomination on August 21. The election is for one Rajya Sabha seat in Rajasthan.
After winning the Rajasthan Assembly elections in 2023, the BJP now has enough legislators in the state, making it likely that Ravneet Singh Bittu will win the election. The seat became vacant after Congress’s KC Venugopal won a Lok Sabha seat.
