After the arrival of Thar vehicles, two golf carts have now reached Kedarnath. These golf carts will help elderly pilgrims visiting the shrine. The golf carts were transported to Kedarnath this morning with the help of an Air Force Chinook helicopter. They were warmly welcomed at the Kedarnath shrine. Previously, two Thar vehicles faced opposition from priests and traders, which led to their operation being halted.
Kedarnath Footpath Repaired
Heavy rainfall and landslides on the night of July 31 caused damage to the Kedarnath footpath, affecting 29 spots and washing away roads at two locations. However, the damaged roads have now been repaired. Officials reported that 260 workers worked day and night to restore the 19-kilometer footpath affected by the disaster.
The priority was to evacuate pilgrims stranded on the footpath and bring them to safety. Under the supervision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar, air and ground rescue operations successfully evacuated over 15,000 pilgrims and locals.
The challenge of repairing the Kedarnath footpath was quickly addressed by the Rudraprayag district administration, and pilgrim movement resumed. Air services to Kedarnath also started last week.
Officials mentioned that work is progressing rapidly to repair the 19-kilometer footpath that was damaged in 29 places. So far, 1,093,632 pilgrims have visited Baba Kedarnath. Currently, 150-200 pilgrims are arriving daily. Additionally, work is underway to restore the Sonprayag-Gaurikund highway, and vehicle movement is expected to resume soon.
