The controversy over BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s comments about farmers continues to be a hot topic. Punjab BJP leader Harjit Singh Grewal has said that he immediately contacted the party’s top leaders after Ranaut’s remarks and expressed his displeasure.
Grewal stated that he spoke to central minister and BJP national president J.P. Nadda over the phone. He said, “Just becoming an MP doesn’t make someone a leader. Aligning with the party’s ideology is not something that happens overnight.”
In a media conversation on Sunday, September 1, Grewal mentioned, “I have been with the BJP for over 35 years. When Kangana Ranaut made her comments, I responded quickly and opposed her, as her views do not align with our party’s ideology.” The BJP had condemned Ranaut’s derogatory comments about the farmers’ protest last week.

The BJP clarified that Ranaut does not have the authority to make comments on the party’s policy matters.
Kangana Ranaut, MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, had posted a clip of an interview where she suggested that India could have faced a situation like Bangladesh, but strong leadership prevented it. She also alleged that during the farmers’ protest against the agricultural laws, there were deaths and rapes.
Response to ‘Emergency’ Film
Regarding Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film “Emergency,” Grewal also shared his views. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has sent a legal notice to the film’s makers, claiming it misrepresents Sikh characters and history. Grewal mentioned that the decision to approve or reject the film rests with the censor board.
