A 34-year-old spinner from Sri Lanka spoiled the condition of the Indian batsmen in the second ODI. The Indian team which was scoring runs at a rate of more than 7 runs at a time. Team India, who had made 95 runs without the loss of a single wicket by 13 overs, was caught by Geoffrey Vandersay that left the Rohit brigade reeling. Wickets continued to fall after this and India had lost 6 wickets by the time the score reached 150 ahead of 97 runs.

Another ODI match was played between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 240 runs for 9 wickets. In reply, the Indian team was all out after scoring 208 runs in 42.2 overs. Geoffrey Wanderse took the highest 6 wickets from Sri Lanka in this match. The special thing is that he dismissed the top-6 batsmen of India. His bowling performance was 10-0-33-6. This is the spinner’s third best performance against India. The first two best performances went to Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajanta Mendis.

Sri Lanka defeated India by 32 runs thanks to this performance by 34-year-old Jeffrey Wanderse. With this, Sri Lanka has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. The first ODI match between India and Sri Lanka was tied on 2 August. Now the third ODI between the two teams will be played on 7th August. India will have to win this match at any cost to level the series.

34-year-old Geoffrey Wandersay is a leg-spinner. He was never able to establish himself as a regular in the Sri Lankan cricket team. Wanderse, who made his debut in 2015, has played a total of 22 ODIs and 14 T20 matches for Sri Lanka so far. He made his Test debut in 2022 and is still waiting to play another Test.

After the Indian cricket team won the T20 series against Sri Lanka with a white wash, the team had high hopes. But after a draw in the first ODI, cricket lovers were disappointed to see a loss in the second. Now India have to win the final match if they want to prevent the trophy from going to Sri Lanka.
