Actress and BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, has apologized for her controversial remarks about farmers. In an interview with News 24, she expressed her regret, saying, “If my statements have caused any harm to the party, I am deeply sorry.”
Recently, BJP reprimanded Ranaut for her statements. This is the first time she has addressed the issue and apologized. She said, “In the BJP, I am at a small level. The party leadership is much bigger, and we might not always foresee the consequences. If I have hurt anyone, I apologize.”
Ranaut also commented on the threats she has been receiving, saying, “The threats we are getting are criminal in nature. I don’t think these are from farmers. These people want to silence me.”
What Did Kangana Ranaut Say?
In a recent interview with Daily Bhaskar, Ranaut suggested that without strong leadership, India might face a situation similar to Bangladesh. She also made controversial remarks about the farmers’ protests, stating that bodies were hanging and rapes were occurring.
BJP’s Reprimand
Following her statement, several political parties, including Congress, AAP, RJD, SP, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP, criticized the BJP. In response, the BJP stated, “The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut about the farmers’ protest does not reflect the party’s views. The BJP disagrees with her comments. She is not authorized to speak on party policies.”
Comments on ‘Emergency’ Film
Kangana Ranaut is currently promoting her upcoming film “Emergency,” which has also faced controversy. A public interest petition has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, claiming that the film misrepresents Sikhs and requesting a ban in Punjab.
In response to the opposition to her film, Ranaut told Aaj Tak, “As an artist, I have the constitutional right to show the truth. You cannot silence me with threats or cruelty. I will not let this country’s constitutional rights be taken away.”
She added, “No one can intimidate me. I will not allow the constitutional rights of this country to be destroyed. Every artist should have the freedom of expression.”
