In the Kolkata RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, Sanjay Roy has been named the main accused for the rape and murder of a junior female doctor. According to CBI sources, around 200 people’s statements have been recorded and included in the charge sheet.
Last Saturday (October 5), junior doctors began a hunger strike to protest the West Bengal government’s failure to meet their demands. They claimed that the Mamata Banerjee government had not addressed their concerns, forcing them to take this drastic step.
Doctors Went on Strike for Unfulfilled Demands
The junior doctors had gathered at Dorina Crossing in Dharmatala last Friday, giving the West Bengal government a 24-hour ultimatum to fulfill their demands. One junior doctor mentioned that the state government did not meet the deadline, leading them to start the hunger strike. To ensure transparency, CCTV cameras were set up at the protest site where their fellow doctors would continue the strike.

Accusations Against the West Bengal Government
The main accused, Sanjay Roy, was arrested in connection with the case. However, the Mamata Banerjee-led government is facing heavy criticism. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been attacking the government, accusing it of downplaying the case and hiding evidence. Many doctors had even stopped going to work in protest. But after various efforts and considering the situation, doctors have now started returning to their duties.
