On Janmashtami, a lover’s visit to his girlfriend’s house turned costly. He went there to enjoy some sweets but ended up being beaten by her family. The incident happened in Gurpa, a part of Gaya district. The lover, who was beaten so badly that he needed medical treatment, went to the hospital.

What Happened:
On August 26, the lover went to his girlfriend’s house after being invited by her. She was fasting for Janmashtami and had called him over for a meal and to share the prasad (offering). He quickly went to her house, but her aunt saw them together in a room. The aunt informed other family members, who then beat the young man severely. The injured lover, Ranjeet Kumar, was taken to Fatehpur Community Health Center for treatment.

Rain Ruins the Visit:
Ranjeet Kumar explained on August 27 that his girlfriend had called him at 1 AM on Janmashtami night, inviting him over and promising to serve him sweets. After he arrived, she gave him some halwa (a sweet dish). Just as he was about to leave, it started raining heavily. He waited for the rain to stop, but the girlfriend’s aunt saw him and locked the room from outside. She informed the rest of the family, who then beat him from 1 AM to 4 AM.

Police Involvement:
After the incident, Gurpa police arrived at the girlfriend’s house and rescued Ranjeet. Gurpa Station Head Rajesh Paswan stated that the case involves a romantic affair. No formal complaint has been filed by either party yet, but action will be taken if a complaint is made.
