The Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment exam for 60,244 positions started on Friday. The exam was held in two shifts. On the first day, 9.60 lakh candidates were supposed to appear across Uttar Pradesh, but 32% of them skipped the exam. Only 6,48,435 candidates attended. In Lucknow, out of 78,144 candidates expected, only 56,674 appeared, leaving 21,470 who missed the exam.
Of the 32.45% candidates who missed the exam, about 20.88% had downloaded their admit cards but did not reach the exam centers. Additionally, in the first shift, 32 candidates and in the second shift, 29 candidates were found suspicious. Their documents will be verified later by comparing with their Aadhaar cards.
6 Candidates Arrested
Six people have been arrested for different cheating methods. Four were caught attempting to use unfair means, and two, including a female constable from Gorakhpur, were arrested for selling exam papers. The female constable, Pinky Sonkar, and her accomplice, Devendra Pratap Singh, were involved in fraud.
Among those caught using unfair means:
- Vivek from Hathras was arrested at Saket Vidyapeeth Intermediate College in Shahganj, Agra, for using a fake Aadhaar card.
- Upendra Singh from Auraiya was caught using a Bluetooth device to cheat at a center in Raebareli.
- Avadhesh Yadav from Kanpur Dehat was arrested in Lalitpur for showing a lower age on his mark sheet, although he filled out Form 8 for the exam.
- Yogesh from Haryana was caught with earphones at a college in Maharajganj, intending to cheat.
