The suspense about who will hoist the national flag at Delhi’s Chhatrasal Stadium on Independence Day has finally ended. As you may know, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is currently in Tihar Jail due to the liquor scam case.

Every year on Independence Day, the national flag is hoisted at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. However, this year, there was a disagreement between Delhi’s LG VK Saxena and the Aam Aadmi Party about who would hoist the flag. CM Kejriwal had requested that Atishi be allowed to do the honors, but the General Administration Department (GAD) rejected this request. Now, LG VK Saxena has revealed who will hoist the flag at Chhatrasal Stadium in Kejriwal’s place.

Kailash Gahlot to Hoist the Flag

The suspense is over, and it has been announced that Delhi’s Home Minister Kailash Gahlot will hoist the national flag at Chhatrasal Stadium on August 15, 2024. This decision was communicated by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena.

Gopal Rai Had Suggested Atishi’s Name

Gopal Rai had earlier written a letter stating that he had met with CM Kejriwal, who wanted Atishi to hoist the flag this year on Independence Day. However, the General Administration Department responded by saying that CM Kejriwal, being in jail, cannot give any written or verbal orders, and hence this request is not valid. The CM’s office was informed about the August 15 event, and they replied that CM Kejriwal is currently in jail.
