Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the shooter in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Crooks, a registered Republican, graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022 and received a $500 “star award” from the National Math and Science Initiative. He was armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and positioned himself on the roof of a building about 130 yards away from the stage where Trump was speaking. Multiple witnesses saw him before the shooting and alerted authorities. Unfortunately, Crooks was shot and killed by Secret Service officials after the attack. The motive behind his actions is still unclear.
