Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Monday disputed the claims made by Tihar prison authorities regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s health, stating that a team of AIIMS doctors has found that Kejriwal is rapidly losing weight and suffering from hypoglycemia.
According to Singh, Kejriwal’s blood sugar level has dropped below 50 mg/dL five times, which could have led to a coma or even death. He alleged that there is a conspiracy to push Kejriwal to death, citing that his weight has decreased from 70kgs to 61.5kgs since his arrest.
However, the Tihar Jail authorities rejected the AAP’s allegations, stating that Kejriwal’s health is under continuous monitoring and he is receiving regular medical assessments. They claimed that Kejriwal has been following a medically-prescribed diet, including home-cooked food, as per the court’s orders, and that his vitals remain normal despite a slight weight loss.
The prison officials accused the AAP of spreading a “misleading and driven by ulterior motives” narrative to undermine the prison administration, and provided a documented weight chart to support their claims. Kejriwal has been in Tihar Jail since June 2, after his interim bail expired.
