In Chhattisgarh, on Friday, October 4, a major anti-Naxal operation resulted in the deaths of 31 Naxalites. The security forces recovered their bodies, and it’s believed that two or three more may be found. This operation took place in the jungles between Dantewada and Narayanpur, and was led by DRG, CRPF, and STF personnel. The forces also seized a large number of weapons, including AK-47s, SLRs, and LMGs.
One soldier was injured in the encounter and has been taken to Raipur for treatment. Among the Naxalites killed were key members such as Kamlesh, Neeti, Commander Nandu, and others. Many of the deceased were from the North Bastar Division. A search operation is still underway in the area, and the bodies of the Naxalites will be taken to Dantewada Police Line.
Success in Anti-Naxal Operations
According to Bastar IG Sundarraj P., in 2024, the security forces have had major success in the fight against Naxalism. In the Bastar region alone, 663 Maoists have been arrested in the past eight months, and 556 have surrendered.
Amit Shah’s Promise
In various operations, the forces have killed 157 Naxalites so far. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has promised to eliminate Naxalism from the entire country, including Bastar, by March 31, 2026. The forces are working tirelessly to enter Naxal strongholds and end this threat.
