Doctors at AIIMS, Delhi, have ended their strike after 11 days, following an assurance from the Supreme Court. The strike, which started in response to the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata, had caused significant disruptions and affected patients in the national capital.
The indefinite protest by doctors in Delhi had been ongoing for 11 days, leading to interruptions in services and inconvenience for patients. The Supreme Court intervened, appealing to the doctors to return to work, which they accepted.
The strike began after a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata was raped and murdered. The Supreme Court’s appeal was made in light of the large number of patients who were left untreated due to the strike. The absence of doctors was severely impacting patient care, leading to worsening conditions and additional difficulties for those in need of medical attention.
