Om Prakash Rajbhar, a minister in Yogi Adityanath’s government, is gearing up to challenge BJP in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. His party, the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), is holding a national convention in Mumbai, which will conclude today, August 22.
At the convention, party officials from various states are receiving guidance and sharing suggestions to advance the party. There is speculation that Rajbhar’s party might contest the Maharashtra elections, potentially creating problems for BJP. The convention’s location in Mumbai hints at SBSP’s plans to make a significant impact in the state.
If SBSP fields candidates in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, it could pose a challenge for BJP. It is still unclear whether SBSP will go solo or form an alliance with other parties.
The two-day convention, held at the Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Natya Griha in Mira Road, Mumbai, featured speeches from party leaders, including National General Secretary Arvind Rajbhar. Additionally, Maharashtra Shiv Sena leader Pratap Baburao welcomed SBSP President and Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar at his office.
The date for the Maharashtra Assembly elections has not yet been announced, but all parties are already preparing. In the 2019 elections, BJP won the most seats, with 105, in alliance with Shiv Sena. However, Shiv Sena later broke away from NDA and is now part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance for the 2024 elections.
