In India, wearing a helmet while riding a bike is mandatory according to traffic rules. This rule is for the safety of bikers, and not following it can result in a fine. Many people wonder if they can ride a bike while wearing a cricket helmet and if they will still get a fine. Here’s the answer to that question.

    Rules About Helmets:

You cannot ride a bike wearing a cricket helmet. If you try to do so, traffic police will issue a fine. According to Section 129-A of the Motor Vehicles Act, a helmet used for biking must be of a size and material that can protect the rider’s head in case of an accident. Cricket helmets do not meet these standards.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has also made it clear that helmets without the ISI mark will not be allowed for use, and using such helmets is considered illegal. Cricket helmets do not have the ISI mark.

    Traffic Rules:

Under Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, wearing a helmet is mandatory for safety. The helmet must be made of quality foam, with a thickness of 20-25 mm, and must have an ISI mark.

    Purpose of Cricket Helmets:

Cricket helmets are used to protect players from fast balls. Initially, cricket players did not wear helmets, but their use started in international cricket in 1978. Cricket helmets have evolved over time to improve safety.

In summary, you should use a proper bike helmet that meets safety standards to avoid fines and ensure your safety while riding.
