Using ChatGPT Search has just gotten simpler. The company has announced that ChatGPT Search is now available to everyone, and there’s no need to sign up. This move has made it easier to search the internet through ChatGPT, and it’s creating more competition for Google.
ChatGPT Search Launched in October
OpenAI launched ChatGPT Search in October of last year. Previously, ChatGPT was only a chatbot that could answer questions based on its dataset. However, with ChatGPT Search, it can now search the internet, providing real-time information. ChatGPT is ideal for creative writing, brainstorming, and general knowledge tasks where recent data isn’t necessary. On the other hand, ChatGPT Search is useful for finding news, weather reports, and other real-time information.
More Users on ChatGPT Than Google
Third-party researchers have found that ChatGPT received 3.7 billion visits, while Google Chrome saw 3.45 billion users. This shows how popular ChatGPT has become and the competition it’s creating for Google. More people are now turning to AI chatbots like ChatGPT for searches instead of Google. This shift is also reflected in the decreasing market share of Google Search, which has fallen to its lowest level in the past 10 years. In fact, for the first time since 2015, Google’s share of internet searches has dropped below 90%.
In October last year, Google’s market share was 89.34%, in November it was 89.99%, and in December it was 89.73%. The last time Google’s market share dropped below 90% was in 2015, when it happened for three consecutive months.
