Doctors across the country, including in Prayagraj, had been on strike in protest against an incident in Kolkata. However, after intervention by the Supreme Court, the doctors announced the end of their strike. Doctors in Prayagraj have returned to work starting today.
Following the end of the strike, hospitals in Prayagraj are experiencing a large influx of patients. There are long lines at the registration counters and in the OPD rooms. Many patients had to wait for hours to get their turn, causing significant inconvenience.
During the strike, patients faced many difficulties. Many were unable to afford the high costs of private hospitals and had to visit government hospitals daily without success.
At the Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital, operated by Motilal Nehru Medical College in Prayagraj, the crowd was so large that there was no space left at the registration and medicine counters, as well as in the OPD. Patients had to wait for hours in different queues.
Patients have suggested that the hospital should have increased staff for a few days to handle the backlog. They also appealed to the doctors not to go on strike in the future. With the strike over, patients are relieved to see doctors back at work.
