Rules applicable from 1st August
National Payments Corporation of India i.e. NPCI has changed the rules related to FASTag. NPCI says the new FASTag rules are meant to simplify the toll payment process at toll booths and reduce vehicular congestion. Both new and old customers are going to be affected by the changed FASTag rules. These changes are effective from August 1, 2024. Let’s know what rules have changed regarding FASTag from this month of August.
These 7 rules have changed from this month
1: If your fastag is more than 5 years old then you have to replace it.
2: Now you have to update KYC if your FASTag is more than 3 years old.
3: It has now become mandatory for every user to link car registration number and chassis number with FASTag.
4: On buying a new car, the user has to update the registration number on FASTag within 90 days.
5: All FASTag providers i.e. banks and companies providing FASTag have to verify their database.
6: It is necessary to upload a clear photograph of the car from front and back along with FASTag.
7: FASTag must be linked to a mobile number.
This is how Fasteg works
Fastag is available in the form of a sticker, which is affixed to the front windshield of vehicles. Toll is automatically paid by vehicles passing through each toll booth with the help of FASTag. Due to which the toll booth is not crowded with vehicles. If drivers do not have FASTag, they will have to pay double toll tax.
What is FASTag?
FASTag are prepaid rechargeable tags for toll collection. Out of which the toll tax is automatically paid. Which is pasted on the windscreen of the vehicle. With the help of FASTag, you don’t have to wait in long queues for the vehicle at the toll tax. As soon as the vehicle crosses the toll plaza, the toll is deducted from the FASTag pasted on the windscreen, linked bank account, prepaid wallet.
