Millions of Indians are still in shock after Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics. This decision has sparked a lot of discussion among fans and experts. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has challenged the decision in the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but before the final verdict, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar has made a big appeal regarding this matter. Sachin shared his thoughts on social media.
In his message on X, Sachin wrote, “Every sport has its rules, and these rules need to be understood in context. They can be changed from time to time. Vinesh Phogat qualified for the final in a completely fair manner. Disqualifying her before the final due to weight issues took away her rightful medal. This decision goes against the spirit of the sport and logic.”
Sachin further added, “If an athlete is disqualified for moral reasons, such as using a performance-enhancing drug, it would be understandable. In that case, not awarding the athlete a medal and placing them at the bottom would be fair. However, Vinesh defeated her opponents fairly to secure a place among the top two athletes. She definitely deserves a medal. Now, as we await the decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, we hope and pray that Vinesh receives the honor she truly deserves.”
Sachin’s appeal is a call for fairness and justice for Vinesh Phogat.
