The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled for 2025, but the battle for seats has already begun. Leaders seem to have started their preparations. Sanjay Singh, an MLC from CM Nitish Kumar’s party, JDU, has made a statement that could cause concern for the BJP. Sanjay Singh has announced that he will contest the election from the Badh assembly seat in the capital, Patna.
In a video, Sanjay Singh is seen speaking to some people, confidently stating that he will contest the election from Badh. The current MLA from this seat is BJP’s Gyanendra Singh Gyanu. Sanjay Singh told the people not to worry, saying, “We will fight the election, and we will fight from Badh. Once the decision is made, there is no need to fear the battlefield. We will fight to the last limit.”
This announcement has caused political tension, and now all eyes are on how the BJP will respond.
Gyanendra Singh Gyanu has been MLA from Badh since 2005
The Badh assembly seat is a Rajput-dominated area and is also known as Patna district’s “Mini Chittorgarh.” Gyanendra Singh Gyanu belongs to the Rajput caste, but he is not originally from Badh. His home is in Rukanpura, Bakhtiyarpur assembly constituency. However, since 2005, Gyanu has been the MLA from Badh.

Gyanu was once in JDU before joining BJP. In 2005, Nitish Kumar gave him a ticket, and Gyanu won twice from 2005 to 2015 on a JDU ticket. In 2015, he switched to the BJP and continues to be the MLA.
Despite joining BJP, Gyanendra Singh Gyanu remained close to Nitish Kumar. About eight months ago, when there was speculation that Nitish Kumar might return to the NDA, Gyanu was the first to announce that Nitish would come back. Now, Sanjay Singh, one of Nitish’s close aides, is staking his claim on Gyanu’s assembly seat.
Interestingly, Sanjay Singh is also not from Badh but from Naugachia in Bhagalpur. Now, it remains to be seen who secures the Badh seat in the upcoming elections.
