After the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has become a significant threat to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Congress has been actively speaking about the Constitution and reservations, which has attracted many Dalit voters towards them. BSP chief Mayawati is concerned about this and is taking steps to protect her party’s base to make it strong again.
Since the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has been vocal about issues like reservations, the Constitution, and caste-based census. This has led several BSP leaders to lean towards Congress. Mayawati has noticed this and recently warned BSP leaders who support Congress’s views on issues like creamy layer and quota within quotas. She has warned them not to support Congress’s ideology, threatening expulsion from the party for those who do.

Congress’s strategy has increased Mayawati’s concerns. BSP leaders have recently joined Congress in Basti and Chitrakoot, causing significant losses for BSP. Mayawati is aware that if BSP fails to regain power, it could be detrimental.
In the past, Congress had a strong hold over the Dalit vote bank. However, with the rise of BSP, many Dalit voters united under BSP, weakening Congress’s hold. This was evident as Congress’s influence in UP diminished. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Congress managed to turn the tide and won six seats in UP with significant support from Dalit voters.
If Congress succeeds in attracting Dalit voters, it will strengthen its base in UP and gain an advantage in seat-sharing with SP. This would further weaken BSP’s position. Mayawati is aware of Congress’s tactics and is staying active to address these challenges.
