Former JMM leader Lobin Hembrom joined BJP on Saturday. After joining, he claimed that JMM is no longer the same as it used to be. He said that many people in the party are unhappy due to a few individuals. It’s worth noting that in the 2019 assembly elections, Lobin had defeated the BJP candidate. However, JMM had expelled him for six years.
Lobin is a prominent tribal leader in Jharkhand, and his joining BJP is expected to benefit the party. After joining, in an interview with ANI, Lobin shared his future plans and the issues he plans to address. He said, “After leaving here, we will sit and decide how to protect the tribals of this region, how to safeguard the rights over water, forests, and land, and how to deal with the problem of illegal immigrants. We will devise a strategy.”

Lobin Won the Election from Borio
When asked why he is suddenly raising the issue of Bangladeshi immigrants, Lobin replied, “Hearing something and seeing it for yourself are two different things. I have seen it with my own eyes, and now I am raising the issue.” In 2019, Lobin defeated BJP’s Surya Narayan Hansda from the Borio seat. Lobin received 77,365 votes, while the BJP candidate got 59,441 votes. JMM secured 47.4% of the votes, while BJP got 36.4%. AJSU came in third.
Babulal Marandi’s Remarks on JMM
BJP State President Babulal Marandi commented, “Champai Soren, Lobin Hembrom, and Sita Soren worked hard to build JMM, but they were disrespected there.” Marandi further stated that the objectives with which the tribals and locals had formed the JMM government were not fulfilled. Instead of benefiting the people of Jharkhand, the government’s benefits went to those who have no concern for the tribals or the locals.
