The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled NEET UG 2026, which was conducted on May 3, 2026, following serious allegations of a paper leak and irregularities linked to a “guess paper” circulating before the exam. The decision was taken after inputs from central agencies and a Rajasthan Police probe, with the Government of India also ordering a CBI enquiry into the matter.
NEET UG 2026 will now be re‑conducted on fresh dates to be notified later. All existing registrations will remain valid and candidates will not have to pay any additional exam fee. Any fees already paid will be refunded as per the official NTA process. New admit cards will be issued once the revised exam schedule is announced through the NTA website and other official channels.
The cancellation is expected to push back the counselling and admission timeline for medical colleges for the 2026–27 academic session. Aspirants are advised to regularly check the official NTA site and their respective state counselling portals for updates on the re‑exam dates, result declaration, and counselling schedule.
This disruption adds to the stress of lakhs of NEET candidates, but the re‑exam aims to ensure a fair and transparent selection process for undergraduate medical and dental courses across India.
