Kejriwal Criticizes LG on MCD Election Issue

On the issue of the Standing Committee election in the MCD House, Kejriwal said, “I am shocked. The law clearly states that only the Mayor has the right to call a session of the Corporation. How can the LG call a session? We are living in a democracy. Their intentions are not clear. Tomorrow, they may say the Home Secretary will chair the Lok Sabha. There seems to be a conspiracy to do something wrong.”

Kejriwal added that the councilors are given 72 hours’ notice before the session. The Mayor has written to the Commissioner, declaring today’s election as illegal and unconstitutional. She has asked the Commissioner not to conduct today’s election.
